Poem about an X-Men character

This poem sprung from a "which X-Men character would you be and why" conversation that's been around for a while here in Denver.  I submit it for the approval of the masses.

They call me Forge

Native to a land

I now feel a stranger in.

I have fought for you,

Bled for you,

Augmented myself to

better serve your

purpose for me.

My gifts are those

curiosity

and

foresight.

Sometimes taking things apart

to see how I built them

in the first place.

A wolf with human teeth,

as useful on the battlefield

as an electron microscope

but

I make the warriors around me

better

stronger

deadlier.

I am the edge my teammates

sharpen themselves against.

I once knew where my loyalties lie,

But after so many broken promises

I’ve stopped chasing symbols and rhetoric.

Now, I freelance my foresight

to the biggest personal advantage.

Wandering aimless.

A stranger in familiar lands.

Searching for something

worth improving.
